Electus Academy offers an educational curriculum for students, grades 3-12, that meets or exceeds Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) standards and that aligns with the curricula of the home school districts from which the students come.
Elementary Educational Program
At the elementary level, focus is on reading, language arts, and mathematics, with heavy integration of science and social studies. Technology is infused into all areas of curriculum, and opportunities for physical education, fine arts, and early career exploration complement the basic skills instruction. Student-centered instructional delivery translates to hands-on activities and projects.
Middle and High School Program
Middle and high school students are provided a sequential curriculum in English, mathematics, science and social studies, with the opportunity to progress individually, as their skills and interests allow. An ungraded program allows students to move forward in some subject areas and receive necessary remediation in others, using technology as appropriate and relevant. Electives include art, interior design, Microsoft software, psychology, additional English, science and social studies courses, as well as the opportunity to engage in service learning or employment projects. Career exploration and transition activities align with those of the home districts. In all instances, a student completes the required program of his/her home school district and receives a diploma from that district. Individual educational plans are based upon the student’s post-secondary goals, but all students will be prepared to pursue post-secondary education, should they choose to.
Group therapy is critical to success for Electus Academy students, helping to develop personal bonds between our students and creating a family-like atmosphere of support. At Electus Academy we focus on real life goals, as well as the relationship between thinking and behavior. Individual therapy is available through licensed therapists, on an as-needs basis.
